It was a windy but clear night as the 2nd round of the TF5 play-offs got underway. In the first game the Big Splendas and the Rushers stalled on their first drives. Both teams looked a little sluggish as they struggled to get into the red zone. However on their 3rd drive the Big Splendas struck first blood scoring 6 but missing the 2 point conversion. After the first half down by 12 the Rushers finally put together a solid scoring drive. The pressure was on but going into the 4th the Big Splendas showed why they are the team to beat. They blew the lead wide open using both Roberts and Boone to full effect. The Big Splendas got a little revenge on the team that put them out of the playoffs last year beating the Rushers 30-7.
As the second game started the wind picked up dramatically. It was a scoreless game as both offenses couldn’t advance the ball in the wind. Then in the 2nd quarter, Steve Walsh finally found Captain Steve Simmons throwing a short pass to get the Hitmen on the board. The Dragons came close and rallied but couldn’t get the ball in the end zone. With the weather and time running out the Hitmen finally closed the game shutting down the Dragons late in the 4th quarter. They move on for the 3rd straight year to the Cup final while getting some revenge on the Dragons who pounded them in the Cup Final last year.
