2021 Season Cancelled

It is with great regret and disappointment to inform you that the 2021 TF5 season has been cancelled for this year. While we the Executive of TF5 have made great strides this year to over come the Provincial bureaucracies of COVID 19 regulations we unfortunately cannot control the incompetence of the City of St. Johns Park and Recreation management. The field conditions at Wishing Well Park will not be ready for the foreseeable future. With an already shorten season, the league simply does not have enough time to complete the planned list of scheduled events. We cannot overstate the amount of frustration we feel after all the work that has been put in over the last 4 months. However we will be back for next year and the Executive would like to apologize for any inconveniences.

Cheers to a bigger and better season in 2022 !

TF5 Executive.

Congratulations to this seasons Wendy’s MVP Justin Roberts of the Big Splendas. This season Justin was a dual threat both on offence and defence. Finishing first overall for total offensive points and 11th for defence, Justin was a major contributing factor in the Big Splendas 7-0 regular season record. Great year !

Big Shout out and congratulations to all the players who won the following league awards:

Colin Andrews  (Hitmen)         Offensive Player of the Year

Mark Pope  (Rampage)             Defensive Player of the Year

Jon Blackwood  (Rampage)     Kicker of the Year

Brad Stokes   (Rushers)           Most Sportsmanlike Player of the Year

HITMEN WIN 1ST CUP !!!!

  Well Well Well !

Three times a charm they say and a 3rd Cup attempt for the Hitmen finally struck gold. The boys in blue won their first cup and narrowly missed being tagged as the “Buffalo Bills” of the TF5. The Hitmen had a solid game against the power house Splendas Saturday night grinding out a final cup win. The game was not easy as it was tied after half. In the second half the Hitmen started to pull away capitalizing on some Big Splendas mistakes. In the end the Hitmen stuck to their game plan that worked for them most of the year. Once again good on ya lads ! Congratulations to the Big Splendas for a spectacular season and all the recipients for this seasons league awards.

Hitmen and Big Splendas Get a Little Revenge Advancing To Cup Final

It was a windy but clear night as the 2nd round of the TF5 play-offs got underway. In the first game the Big Splendas and the Rushers stalled on their first drives. Both teams looked a little sluggish as they struggled to get into the red zone. However on their 3rd drive the Big Splendas struck first blood scoring 6 but missing the 2 point conversion. After the first half down by 12 the Rushers finally put together a solid scoring drive. The pressure was on but going into the 4th the Big Splendas showed why they are the team to beat. They blew the lead wide open using both Roberts and Boone to full effect. The Big Splendas got a little revenge on the team that put them out of the playoffs last year beating the Rushers 30-7.

As the second game started the wind picked up dramatically. It was a scoreless game as both offenses couldn’t advance the ball in the wind. Then in the 2nd quarter, Steve Walsh finally found Captain Steve Simmons throwing a short pass to get the Hitmen on the board. The Dragons came close and rallied but couldn’t get the ball in the end zone. With the weather and time running out the Hitmen finally closed the game shutting down the Dragons late in the 4th quarter. They move on for the 3rd straight year to the Cup final while getting some revenge on the Dragons who pounded them in the Cup Final last year.

Just an Amazing Night of Play-Off Football !!!

It was a spectacular night of play-off football as 4 teams came within seconds of winning. It really was that close. The 2019 TF5  second season started with a bang as some of the best football this season was on full display. In the first game the Rampage started out strong scoring early. They also played a sound defensive game keeping the Dragons offense in check. Then in the 4th quarter the Dragons found their game and took the lead only to have the Rampage push down the field once again. With only seconds to spare QB Rob Piccott found Jon Blackwood in the endzone to bring their team to a 2 pt. conversion. On the ensuing play #56 Mike Rose from Mississippi State scored his biggest sack of the season as the Rampage failed to convert to tie the game. A failed on-side kick sealed the win as the Dragons move on to face the Hitmen.

The second game saw the same action as both the Badgers and the Rushers came out hard. Both teams traded scores going into the second quarter tied at 6. Then the Rushers took the lead in the second half as Matt Scott’s defense helped his offense capitalizing on some costly Badgers interceptions. But just like the last game the Badgers never gave up as QB Chris Lewis hit Brent Morgan for the touch down. Once again only seconds were left on the clock. Instead of going for the tie the Badgers committed themselves for the quick win and went for the 2 pt. conversion. Unfortunately their season ended on another close play. The Rushers beat the Honey Badgers 27-26 and advance to take on the undefeated Big Splendas.
