Dragons Beat The Wind, Splendas Finish With Perfect Season !

It was a windy end to the 2019 regular season on Sunday night. As the tail winds of Dorian swept through the City, teams battled and battered their way up and down the field. The first make up game was from Week #1. The Rushers started the game with a safety as the Dragons struggled to throw and catch the ball. While the passing game was a disaster both teams managed to punt the ball effectively down the field. Leading up to the final drive the Dragons with only second to spare spiked their way up the field to take their first lead of the game. Mother Nature took care of the rest. Dragons beat the Rushers 12-8.

The second make up game from Week #5 saw 2 heavy weights battle the high winds and each other. Both quarterbacks struggled as the ball weaved and wobbled its way through the receiver’s hands. After the first half both teams were tied at 12 but a timely and costly pick 6 by Mike Boone gave the Splendas the lead. Another scoring drive sealed the win as the Big Splendas closed their perfect regular season over the Hitmen 24-12.

WEEK 11 Hitmen Hurt Rushers, Rampage Ends Regular Season With A Big Booty Win !

The last game of the regular season started out with a bang as the Rushers scored a TD on their second try of the first quarter. However as the game wore on the Rushers defense once again had trouble putting pressure on the opposition’s quarterback. The game was fairly close going into the 3rd quarter but some costly interceptions and sacks split the game wide open. The Hitmen jumped on all the given opportunities and put the hurt on the Rushers 43-12

In the second game both teams started out with some nice scoring drives. However both the Badgers and the Rampage stalled on numerous drives going into the second half. The big turning point in the game came from the foot of Big Booty Blackwood as he savagely cracked the ball to score the first and only field goal this season ! The 3 points proved to be the difference maker as the Badgers failed to score on their last drive. The Rampage finished the season winning their second game 16-14.

WEEK 10 “Stingrays”Get Stung, Splendas Spank Rushers

It was throwback Sunday as the Rampage wore their old “Stingrays” jerseys against the Dragons and their new threads. The game was fairly close with the Dragons up by one score. Then late in the 3rd quarter the Dragons took out some game insurance as they scored on an interception. The defense locked up the win in the 4th quater winning 26-14.

The second contest was a spanking match as the undefeated Big Splendas rolled over the Rushers in the second half. The Rushers were still within reach but seemed rattled by the near perfect game executed by the Splendas. Jason Parsons was all over the field scoring 4 TDs and an interception helping the Big Splendas remain undefeated. Tough loss for the Rushers losing 44-6.

WEEK 9 Dragons Kick OT Winner, Rushers Get First Win

Hey it was another exciting weekend of football. Sunday played the stage as 4 teams battled through all the drama. The Dragons found themselves yet again in another close contest. Leading for the most of the game the Dragons double rush defense kept pressure on back up QB Scott Harris. However late in the fourth the Hitmen fought their way back to send the game into overtime. The Hitmen scored first but left the all important PAT off the board. After the Dragons matched the score, Dragons kicker Brandon Howlett made sure to make up for some earlier misses popping the extra point. Dragons win in OT 31-30

The Rushers in the second game matched the Badgers offense as both teams kept scoring on their drives. Then late in the 4th after a big stop, Justin Scott marched down the field hitting the late TD. With only a minute left, the Badgers drove down the field and busted the red zone. They tried to retake the lead for the win but were stopped in the end zone with 1 second left on the clock. Rushers win their first game of the season

WEEK 8 Rampage Fall Short, Splendas Win Another Classic

It was another great weekend of football this Sunday as 4 teams battled tight matches. The Honey Badgers came out strong after a disappointing game last Sunday with a big win over the Rampage. Quarter back Sheldon Antle kept the game close with some great passing plays. However a costly interception late in the game gave the Badgers the win. Rampage lose another close one 27-24.

The second game saw a back to back rematch between two heavy weights. It was another classic game as the Dragons battled their way back, winning an on-side kick and scoring on the following drive. Then inside the 2 minute warning, (Sugar Chucker) Aaron Mawhinney marched his team down the field to take the lead once again. A late interception by Tony Heale sealed the win. Splendas win 31-25

WEEK 7 Splendas Shine, Rampage Hang On

It was a great evening of football this Sunday. The first game saw the undefeated Splendas take their power game versus the Badgers. The Honey Badgers offense put together 2 great early drives but they ran into the Big Sugar himself Justin Roberts who had an outstanding game. Justin put up MVP numbers with 2 pick 6’s and 2 TD runs making it impossible for the Badgers to mount some kind of comeback. Splendas win 47-6

The second game saw the Rushers dress only 5 players against the Rampage. However back up QB Jordan Kavanagh put up a good game to slow the Rampage down. The Rush took an early lead with a lucky pick 6. Then the Rampage went ahead in the second half on a huge run by Scott Vere Holloway. With only seconds remaining the Rushers scored a late touch down but missed the tie hitting the post on a PAT ! A close but much deserved first win for the Rampage.

WEEK 6 Hitmen Grind Out Win, Splendas Walk Off With Glory

The warm sweet summer winds finally blew through the green grounds of Wishing Well this weekend. In the first game the Hitmen gave the Rampage offense a tuff time with their tight in your face defense. It wasn’t until the second half that the Rampage got on the board with a Safety from a text book punt. However the Hitmen capitalized on 2 missed on side kick-offs to seal the win 25-16.

The second game was classic. A fantastic clash between two rivals. This game had fast offense, great defense and nerve ending plays from the special teams. Both teams traded the lead as the game came down to the last play of the game. With only 2 seconds on the play clock, Warren LeBlanc threw a Hail Mary pass into the end zone. A lucky tip from a Dragons defender into the hands of Jason Parsons gave the Splendas the walk off victory 26-25. WOW !!

WEEK 5 Wet Win For Dragons, Second Game Cancelled

Nobody ever said that playing sports in Newfoundland during the summer was easy. Well the weather bitch was in full force this weekend as the Dragons and the Badgers battled in the mud and the rain. The Badgers offense had a difficult time controlling the wet ball. The Dragons however had better control and a better game plan that suited the weather. A mucky win 28-19
