Badgers Advance, Champs Are Out

The 2018 TF5 play-offs saw two great games this past Sunday night. The first crossover game saw the Badgers and Rampage battle for survival in a close contest. The Rampage who struggled all season saved their best game for the first round. They scored quickly on the first play of the game and made some great defensive stops. However Badgers Quarterback Chris Lewis couldn’t be contained. He spread the ball around to all his favorite targets. In the end it was only 3 points that separated the teams. Badgers advance beating the Rampage 30-28.

In the second game the defending Champs had a hard time moving the chains against a stingy Rushers zone defense. This game was a very tight match with very little scoring. The 2017 Champs made it close when they scored 8 points in the 3rd but the Rushers offense managed to sustain long controlled drives keeping Big Splendas QB Mike Boone off the field. The Rushers held on knocking out the Champs 12-8.

WEEK 11 Rushers Grind Out First Win, Splendas Finish Strong

The first game for the final week was a total shoot out. Both teams ran up and down the field as the game saw at least 5 different lead changes. It was basically down to the team who could make a final stop. On the Badgers last drive, Rushers Corner Back Steve Vanier stopped the last play to give the Rushers their first win of the season 37-30.

In the second game the Rampage kept the score fairly close in the first half. However 5 interceptions by Tony Heale, Jason Parsons and Justin Roberts killed any chance for a Rampage comeback. The Big Splendas finish their regular season strong defeating the Rampage 22-6

WEEK 10 Rushers Come Close, Dragons Destroy

Week 10 saw a great opening match between the Hitmen and the Rushers. Coming off a 2 game win streak the Hitmen had a hard time with the Rushers zone attack that kept constant pressure on the pass. Meanwhile Matt Strowbridge had a massive “Sack Feast” striking down the Rushers quarterback for 8 sacks! It was a close game but in the end it was the special teams that made the difference. Colin Andrews made his 3 P.A.T.s to secure a 21-18 win for the Hitmen.

Not much to say about the second game. The Rampage with only 6 players had a real hard time against a stacked Dragons team full of athletes. Sloppy defense and missed passes hurt the Rampage at any chance of making this one close. Dragons remain undefeated bombing out the Rampage 43-zip

WEEK 9 Another Hitmen Victory, Dragons Keep Rolling

The Badgers found themselves in familiar company again this Sunday as they played the whole game from behind. Once again the defense wasn’t able to contain the offense as the Hitmen jumped out to an early lead. The Badgers had to rely on their Special Teams to get the ball back and make it close. Hitmen hold on to win their second game 45-28

The Dragons kept their winning streak alive last night with a solid performance over last years champs. The Big Splendas had trouble containing the Dragons speed downfield while the Dragons pressurized defense held the Splendas to only 6 points. Champs lose this one 27-6

WEEK 8 Hitmen Hit Back, Badgers Defense Falls Flat

Week 8 saw the Honey Badgers in the first game struggle to contain the Dragons offense that picked them apart on every play. However the Badgers kept the game fairly close by winning a on-side kick off and scoring on the drive. Trying to keep the Dragons offense off the field the Badgers opted for a second kick-off but failed to gain possession. Dragons win 39-32

In the second game coming off a close game against the Big Splendas the Hitmen came out hard against the Rampage. The Rampage played a solid game and showed a lot of fight but made some costly mistakes on offense and defense. Hitmen hit back winning 25-14

WEEK 7 Hitmen’s Revenge Falls Short, Dragons Win Close One

The first game was a Cup re-match from last season and this game didn’t disappoint.

The Hitmen started out strong and maintained a close lead as Steve Walsh scrambled for 3 touch downs. But last years champs mustered a strong comeback with good clock management and squeezed out a win holding the Hitmen’s final drive.

The second game was also a tight scoring match with long slow clock killing drives. The Rushers improved defense held the Dragons in check but their offense failed to tie the game late in the 4th quarter. The Dragons win their third game with only an handful of players 12-8

WEEK 6 Rampage Lose Close One, Rushers Improve

Great first game ! Both teams played a really tight game but despite a couple of lead changes the Badgers held off the Rampage late in the second quarter when the Rampage failed to get the ball back on a failed on side kick. Sheldon Antle had a great first game throwing 3 TD passes while Badgers QB Chris Lewis threw for four.

In the second game the rookie Rushers team showed much improvement on defense as they held the Big Splendas to a close contest until late in the 3rd quarter. Mike Boone had a solid game for the Splendas throwing for 2 touch downs and running in for another in a 20-8 win.
